Jen Shpall, Assistant Director Westwood
Hello! My name is Jen Shpall and I am proud to be an Assistant Director at CHALK of Westwood! Before administration, I was teaching in the Yellow and Orange Rooms here at Westwood, and for nearly 3 years I also taught at CHALK of Venice, in the Purple Room; I have loved every minute of it! I am an L.A. native, but I received a Masters Degree in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh. I am looking forward to bringing both my pedagogical knowledge and my classroom experience to the Administration Team to continue to create consistent, creative and fun learning environments for the children in every classroom. I look forward to meeting all of the families here at CHALK!

Hello CHALK families! My name is Charlie Tavormina and I am thrilled to be a part of the CHALK Westwood team! I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Special Education as well as Early Childhood Education. I am a Los Angeles native and, prior to CHALK, worked with infants and toddlers as an early intervention specialist at Pediatric Therapy Network. Shea Gasbarri, Teacher
Hello families! My name is Shea Gasbarri and I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with you and your children at CHALK. I am a Southern California native and have spent most of my life moving between the city and the beach. I have settled here in Los Angeles after living in Ventura where I worked as a Lead Teacher and Assistant Director at a private preschool. In 2013, I received my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Studies from CSU Channel Islands. Initially I majored in photography and I continue to photograph as a hobby. It wasn’t until I spontaneously took an education class that I realized my true calling. The class I took on a whim has taken me on a wonderful journey ever since. I can no longer envision a career doing anything else but teaching. I love teaching because it gives me the opportunity to meet and understand different personalities. It brings me joy to have a positive impact in each child’s development. I enjoy working with kids because they have such happy souls. Their thoughtfulness and desire to learn teaches me lessons, as we
Megan Emerson, Teacher
Hello CHALK families of Westwood! I am Megan Emerson, and I am currently the Purple Room teacher and floater. I have a bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development from California State University, Northridge. Throughout my high school and college years I volunteered as an after school attendant for 10 years at a private school. Then, with my passion for dance, I worked as a high school dance team coach and instructor to grades kinder-8th for 2 years. From there, I volunteered at Mattel’s Children Hospital UCLA. As hospitals can be confusing and frightening for children, in their Child Life program I helped ease fears by familiarizing young children, adolescents and their families with the hospital experience. From there I moved to Illinois for a year working at a daycare, starting my career as a Lead Preschool teacher. Now I am at CHALK Preschool, excited to incorporate all the knowledge I have gained and ready to guide the children of CHALK to their highest potential.
Jenna Kleinberg, Teacher
Hello CHALK Westwood families! I am Jenna Kleinberg, and I am so excited to be here as a teacher in the Yellow Room. Working with children has always been a passion of mine. Throughout my high school and college years I have worked with children ages 2-10 as an assistant teacher, a camp counselor, a nanny, and a student teacher. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Studies from CSU Channel Islands. Initially, I was a Psychology major, but when I enrolled in an Intro to Child Development course I quickly realized my true career path. I fell in love with learning about children and the beauty behind their first years of development. I look forward to learning more about each child and their family, as well as helping each child reach their full potential. I am excited for this next opportunity to learn and grow with all of you!

For the last year, I have been a floater at the Westwood location where I have come to know and love your children. Prior to CHALK, I worked with children ages 3-5 as well as youth through various non-profits. My passion is working with young children, because I strongly believe in the power of early education. Kimberly Rodriguez, Teacher
Hello CHALK families, my name is Kimberly Rodriguez, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles. It has been such a pleasure meeting some of the current families and I look forward to meeting all future families! My journey in early education began in 2013, when I started working at the university child development center. I instantly fell in love with teaching and was amazed at how intelligent these little ones are, if given a chance and are provided with the right tools! It is then that I decided to change my major from criminal justice to child development, and I never looked back. I received my Bachelors Degree in Child Development, with a concentration in Management and Administration from Cal State, Dominguez Hills. Prior to CHALK, I worked with infants and toddlers in a non-profit setting. I was also part of an intervention program that tutored children in grades K-3 in South LA, in hopes to raise reading scores throughout the district. I am SO excited to be part of the CHALK family and I look forward to helping your child further develop and grow!
